Dr Richard Hart attended the 3rd Triennial 2017 Masters’ Symposium on Blepharoplasty and Facial Rejuvenation on the 1st and 2nd of September in Sydney, Australia. This event is organised by Blepharoplasty Australia (BA) in conjunction with the Australasian Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (AAFPS). It is a multidisciplinary event that combines experts from multiple specialties including oculoplastic surgeons, facial plastic surgeons, reconstructive surgeons and dermatologists who all share an interest in this highly specialised surgical field.

Dr Hart found especially interesting the talk by Dr Bryan Mendelson focussed on anatomy and skeletal aging. He discussed the stresses and changes in bone during the aging process rather than the more common approach of looking at the changes in soft tissues. Another entertaining and informative talk was by Dr Paul Nassif, an American plastic surgeon and television personality who is known for his series Botched. Overall attending the conference was a valuable and worthwhile experience.
